Norwegian salmon giant suspected of price monopoly

A number of US companies filed a merger lawsuit against the Norwegian salmon farming company for alleged price monopoly, and the Florida judge responsible for the case will help speed up the process of notifying the defendant. The Norwegian salmon companies currently indicted are:
Mowi ASA;
Marine Harvest USA;
Marine Harvest Canada, Inc.;
Ducktrap River of Maine LLC;
Grieg Seafood ASA;
Grieg Seafood BC Ltd;
Bremnes Seashore AS;
Ocean Quality AS;
Ocean Quality North America Inc.,
Ocean Quality USA Inc;
Ocean Quality Premium Brands, Inc;
SalMar ASA; ,
Leroy Seafood Group ASA;
Leroy Seafood USA Inc.;
Scottish Sea Farms Ltd.

On May 15, US District Court Judge Cecilia Altonaga approved the request of “Euclid Fish” on behalf of the US companies as the original plaintiff to sue a number of Norwegian salmon companies for “authorized alternative processing services” on pricing.

The order allows Euclid and its associated US plaintiffs to serve litigation notices to major Norwegian producers such as “Mowi” via email and at moskowitz-law.com/schneider.fish. The site was created by a lawyer at Schneider and is another plaintiff in the case.

Judge Altonaga ruled that Norwegian salmon industry giants will receive subpoenas in a timely manner via e-mail and public websites, as they are all “important international companies that carry out a large number of businesses via e-mail and carefully maintain their websites in English”. Judge Altonaga also pointed out that these companies have their own subsidiaries in the United States and maintain a "close enough" relationship with the subsidiaries.

According to the court documents, the alternative service order allowed the lawyer in the case to issue a formal summons to the defendant, who had 21 days from the date of receipt of the summons to respond to the court.

As of May 17, the plaintiffs in this case had issued subpoenas to “Grieg Seafood BC”, “Ocean Quality North America”, “Marine Harvest Canada (Mowi)” and “Scottish Sea Farms”.

Earlier in May, the Florida judge asked “Schneider's” and “Euclid Fish” to merge their lawsuits. The two companies have raised pricing issues against a number of Norwegian salmon farming giants in the past month. A separate lawsuit.

Since then, the lawsuits filed by “Cape Florida Seafood”, “The Fishing Line” and “Beacon Fisheries” have been combined with the litigation cases of “Euclid” and “Schneider's”.

Two other companies filed complaints in the US District Court in Miami, South Florida. “Wood Mountain Fish” filed a class action lawsuit in a Florida court on May 24th, while “Hesh's Seafood” was on May 28. “Prime Steakhouse” also filed a separate pricing lawsuit in Maine.
