According to the statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam: In 2007, the aquaculture area in Vietnam reached 1.05 million hectares, an increase of about 10,000 hectares. However, due to the weak nature of Vietnam's basic industries, most of the materials needed for aquaculture are imported, such as farmed feed, fish medicine, and shrimp.
