Luong le Phuong, spokesperson for the Vietnam Agricultural Development Agency, said that in the first four months of this year, Vietnam’s exports totaled more than $1 billion. Compared with the same period last year, it increased by 8.4%. In April alone, global sales reached $300 million. From January to April, the total amount of aquatic products exports reached 1.19 million tons, an increase of 7.4% over the same period last year. Phuong explained that aquatic exports could maintain steady growth in April, as the depreciation of the US dollar stimulated imports of Vietnamese aquatic products from other European countries.

Among them, the fish achieved a good annual sales increase, the growth rate reached 42%, and the product turnover accounted for 33% of the total aquatic product export. From the perspective of the structure of the import market, despite the current recovery of the Japanese market, the European market has also grown rapidly, and demand from the United States has still fallen sharply. According to sources from the Vietnam Export Production Association, the EU is currently the largest import of aquatic products in Vietnam, accounting for 26% of Vietnam's total exports. The annual growth rate reached 21.5%. In terms of importing frozen fish fillets, the market has greater potential to be tapped.

Japan ranked second in Vietnam's aquatic imports with US$179 million, accounting for 17.4%, an increase of 13.5% compared with the same period last year.
