Thailand will focus on the traceability of feeding shrimp

An executive from Thailand's largest value-added shrimp processing company told the media that since the death syndrome crisis in 2012, the Thai shrimp industry has undergone tremendous changes, and now the investment in quality, environment and labor has become the focus of the industry.

Nuntawun Rujiwong, senior director of Thai Royal Frozen Foods (TRF), said, "I don't think Thailand will return to 600,000 tons of production, but now the investment in traceability can change the entire industry and traceability is implemented. Not only for our factory, but for Thailand's entire supply chain.

Rujiwong said that in order to achieve the goal of traceability development, TRF and Golden Seafood International reached a partnership. It is said that Jinshi Seafood International has contracts with “all large retailers in China and Southeast Asia”. TRF hopes to use its market power to achieve changes in the entire industry, but this is not an easy task and will take years. ”

TRF processes 50 metric tons of raw materials per day, owns a live processing plant that produces mainly cooked tigers and raw tiger prawn in mainland China, and a factory that processes 50/50 value-added shrimp to China and Southeast Asia, focusing on shrimp farming in China. Export business.

“In addition, value-added demand is also growing, especially in China, where omni-channel retail platforms are driving product innovation and they are really advanced in ordering food online, which is our opportunity,” Rujiwong said.
