Total ban on fishing for 65 days in Bangladesh

According to a report by the BBC on the 20th, Bangladesh has banned fishing for 65 days in order to protect the depleted fishery resources.

According to the report, it is the active breeding period of fish. Bangladesh announced that it will be a fishing season from May 20 to July 23. During this period, no fishing boat will be allowed to go fishing in the sea, and the Coast Guard will continue to patrol and supervise the implementation of the decree. The government also said that the ban will be implemented every year.

It is reported that the fishery resources in Bangladesh are currently facing no small challenge. The common fish species in the country have been rapidly declining due to overfishing in recent years. Bangladesh has also issued a short-term commercial fishing ban, but it is the first time that a ban has been imposed on all fishing boats and local fishermen. The fisheries organization called on the government to reconsider the ban and hope to get compensation. After all, fish is an important part of the local diet and a major export product.
